Unique City Escape at Sekeping Serendah Retreats – What’s Cool? What’s Not?

What the experience is all about

Sekeping Serendah is a private retreat attempting to tread lightly on the land. The very transparent and open sheds celebrate the beauty of the natural environment surrounding them. The sheds are intentionally kept basic and free from lavishness. They are seen more as ‘glorified tents’ to provide basic shelter for its inhabitants as they commune with the land.

The retreat is located near a sleepy one street town of Serendah, about an hour drive north of Kuala Lumpur. Drive time from Serendah town to the retreat is about 5 minutes, meandering past 2 Orang Asli villages.

Sekeping Serendah consists of 10 sheds set within 5 acres of tropical rainforest. The sheds float gently over the forest floor beside a bubbling brook.

What people love: Stylish, comfortable, unique architecture, spacious rooms (sheds), nice pool, stunning location, surrounded by nature, star gazing, and how surprising it was that there were not many mosquitoes

What people wish were different: Noise from jungle can interrupt sleep, not very toddler friendly due to steps and steep stairs, noise from nearby drug rehab facility, litter around waterfall, dirty sheets, mouldy outdoor shower, damp smell, no towels provided, mediocre service, gates shut at 10 pm, no place to sit around pool, expensive, dogs digging through rubbish, limited kitchen tools, proper meal planning required
